Janice Rose Toms March 27, 1941 – January 29, 2026.
Janice Rose Toms, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and quiet grace that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Janice was the proud mother of three sons: Norman (Jeanette), John, and Joe (Dinnah), each of whom brought immense joy and purpose to her life. Her beloved granddaughter, Sajan, was truly her pride and joy, and Janice treasured every moment spent watching her grow. She is survived by her brothers Mike Cotsman (Pat), Rich Cotsman (Becky), and Dave Cotsman (Sandra), who will always remember her warmth, humor, and unwavering loyalty. She was preceded in death by her brother Jim Cotsman (Patty) and by her devoted life partner, Jerry Kutz, both of whom held a special place in her heart. Janice dedicated many years of her professional life to University Hospital, where she served as an executive secretary. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and served as a red coat at several theaters. Her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and steady presence earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. Outside of work, Janice found joy in activities that allowed her creativity and spirit to shine. She loved visiting the library, reading, gardening, and took great pride in working on her home. She had a special talent for decorating. She also enjoyed playing pinochle and board games, creating countless memories filled with laughter and friendly competition. She was the matriarch and center of the family, bringing everyone together. Those who knew Janice will remember her for her kindness, her strength, and the deep love she carried for her family. Her presence brought comfort, and her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
