Evelyn Zappernick

Evelyn Zappernick, 97, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026. Born in Smoke Run, Pennsylvania, she was the beloved daughter of the late George and Eva (Finch) Nadvit.

Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Zappernick and a devoted mother to Subdeacon Joseph, Francis, and Matthew and his wife, Nadia.

She was a loving grandmother to Taissa and her husband, Christopher Bej, Natalia and her husband, Mark Drozd, and Lesya. She was blessed with two great-granddaughters, Sonya and Zoryana, children of Taissa and Christopher. Evelyn treasured the special bond she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took great pride in watching her family grow.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph, and by her brothers and sisters: Anne, Marie, Margaret, Michael, Frank, Helen, George, and Katherine.

Throughout her 97 years, Evelyn built a life centered on love, family, faith, and Ukrainian traditions. Her presence, wisdom, and love will remain a treasured part of the lives of those who knew her. Though her family will deeply feel her absence, they will find comfort in the memories she gave them and in the legacy of love she leaves behind.

May God grant His servant Evelyn eternal rest and peace, and may her memory be eternal.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at HOLOWCHAK FUNERAL HOME; 5548 State Rd. Parma, Ohio  44134 on Tuesday September 22, 2026 from 5:00–8:00 p.m. with Parastas service at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday September 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Ukrainian Catholic Church "PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH."
